Ethen pulls from trusted retrieval sources before answering. Citations appear inline. Route evidence and retrieval status are part of the telemetry record so you always know whether an answer is grounded or generated from model knowledge alone.
When Ethen produces something worth keeping, it becomes a named artifact with its own lifecycle. Artifacts are versioned, typed, and stored alongside the conversation. Supported types include markdown, code, HTML, JSON, and plain text.
The tool registry defines every available tool, its risk tier, and its approval requirement. Low-risk actions run automatically. File writes and other Tier 3 actions require an explicit approval step that is visible, deliberate, and logged.

All inference routes through a controlled gateway. The gateway resolves tenant context, checks policy, selects the provider and model, and emits route evidence as part of the telemetry record. Product surfaces never call model providers directly.

Every session emits structured telemetry covering route evidence, provider and model selection, time to first token, token estimates, retrieval status, citation counts, audit events, and groundedness status.
The seed tool registry defines web search and document retrieval as Tier 1, code execution as Tier 2, and file writes as Tier 3 requiring approval. The registry is the contract. The platform enforces it.
